Bounds for Small-Error and Zero-Error Quantum Algorithms
We present a number of results related to quantum algorithms with small error probability and quantum algorithms that are zero-error. First, we give a tight analysis of the trade-offs between the number of queries of quantum search algorithms, their error probability, the size of the search space, and the number of solutions in this space. Using this, we deduce new lower and upper bounds for qu...
متن کاملReducing Error Probability in Quantum Algorithms
We present several results related to quantum algorithms with very small error probability or even with zero-error. Firstly, we give a tight analysis of the trade-offs between the number of queries of quantum search algorithms, their error probability, the size of the search space, and the number of solutions in the search space. Secondly, we use this to show that a quantum computer cannot ampl...
متن کاملQuantum Zero-Error Algorithms Cannot be Composed
We exhibit two black-box problems, both of which have an efficient quantum algorithm with zero-error, yet whose composition does not have an efficient quantum algorithm with zero-error. This shows that quantum zero-error algorithms cannot be composed. In oracle terms, we give a relativized world where ZQP 6= ZQP, while classically we always have ZPP = ZPP.
متن کاملQuantum One-Sided Exact Error Algorithms
We define a complexity class for randomized algorithms with one-sided error that is exactly equal to a constant (unlike the usual definitions, in which the error is only bounded above or below by a constant). We show that the corresponding quantum classes (one each for a different error probability) are in fact all equivalent to each other and to EQP, the quantum analogue of P. The technique us...
متن کاملQuantum Error Correction Protects Quantum Search Algorithms Against Decoherence
When quantum computing becomes a wide-spread commercial reality, Quantum Search Algorithms (QSA) and especially Grover's QSA will inevitably be one of their main applications, constituting their cornerstone. Most of the literature assumes that the quantum circuits are free from decoherence. Practically, decoherence will remain unavoidable as is the Gaussian noise of classic circuits imposed by ...
